Father, son among 3 killed in armed clash

KARACHI - Three people including a man and his son were killed when a group of drunkard people and some citizens clashed here on Friday. The incident took place in Eidu Goth within the jurisdiction of Bin Qasim Police Station. Police said, some alcoholics were having drinks in a residential area of Eido Goth near Pipri ground, where a clash started when residents of the area tried to stop the men from drinking. The verbal scuffle led to the gunfight which left Muhammad Sarwar, 56, and his son Muhammad Asghar, 31, and another man Abdul Aziz, 35, son Abdul Latif critically injured. They were brought to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors pronounced them dead. The bodies were handed over to the families after autopsy. Police were of the view that both the groups had affiliations with rival political parties and they already had a history of discord. They further told this scribe that after the clash the residents of the area also staged a demo on National Highway against the bad law and order condition in the locality. The panic gripped the area and intermittent aerial firing was reported and commercial and private activities remained suspended The large number of law enforcement agencies including Rangers rushed the area and cordoned off the whole locality but they were also unable to stop aerial firing in the area. The FIR of the case was yet to be registered. Shopkeeper killed An owner of a grocery shop who was also a father of three kids was gunned down here on Friday. The incident took place in Sector E- New Karachi within the limits of Bilal Colony Police Station. Police said the victim Sajid, 28 was, at his shop located near his house where two unidentified suspects entered and opened fire. The man died on the spot and the assailants managed to flee from the scene. Police suspected the old enmity behind the murder. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities.
