KARACHI Host Pakistan are certain to clinch one gold and three silver medals in the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Boxing which will come to successful conclusion here on Friday at KPT Benazir Sports Complex. Thursday is the rest day and finals in all the 11 weight categories will be held on Friday. Englands Aamir Khan, 2004 Athens Olympic gold medallist and Pakistans former Seoul Olympic bronze medallist Hussain Shah, who have been specially invited by the Pakistan Boxing Federation to witness the championships, would also be present beside the ring on Friday. On Wednesday, Pakistan were ensured of a gold medal when two home boxers Nadir Baloch and Mohib Bacha qualified for the final of the light fly weight (48Kg) after wining their semi-finals in an easy manner. Pakistans Adnan Hussain also entered the final of light weight (60Kg) when he outscored Hanggai Bayin of China in the second semi-final. In the final, he would face Ibrahim Sanda of Syria, who in the other semi-final of the event, out-pointed Nawaz Dad of Pakistan White. Abdul Waheed of Pakistan has also qualified for the final of the fly weight (51Kg) defeating Obaidur Rehman (previously known by the name Namogui Songlnekani of Central African Republic). Thus, Pakistan has been ensured of one gold and three silver. The host nation has already bagged 11 bronze medals when their boxers lost in the semi-final stages in various weight categories. The fight of the Wednesday was in the semi-final of light welter weight (64Kg) in which Tuvshinbat of Mongolia defeated Bilige Hurisha of China in recount after the two boxers tied three all in three round. The two boxers treated a sizable crowd comprising mostly of visiting boxers to high class of boxing. The equally talented boxers put up good fight giving attacking boxing. The jury around the ring watched closely as the two griped the audience with excitement. When the final ring was sounded, the two finished at three points each. To break the tie a recounting was done and the Mongolian was declared the winner. For Pakistan Nadir Baloch and Mohib Bacha played confidently in light fly weight (48Kg) category to outscore their opponents. Nadir Baloch, representing Pakistan Green, defeated Hassan Ali Shakir of Iraq 14-1. Mohib Bacha of Pakistan White clinched 9-0 verdict against Mahmudov Alisher of Uzbekistan to set up a final fight against his teammate in the final. Abdul Wahid also made Pakistan proud by winning his semi-final in fly weight (51kg) category when he out-pointed Obaidur Rehman of Central African Republic. The African boxers on Tuesday embraced Islam and one of them changed his name as Obaid Ur Rehman which was Niamogui Songlnekani earlier. Adnan Hussain of Pakistan Green was the fourth boxer to reach the final. He defeated Hanggai Bayin of China 5-1 in the semi-final of light weight (60Kg) category. Two Pakistani who lost their semi-final and would be given bronze medals are Muhammad Waseem of Pakistan Green, who lost to Anan Pongkhet of Thailand 5-1 and Nawaz Dad of Pakistan White lost 5-0 to Ibrahim Sanda of Syria.
