KARACHI - Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Muhammad Hussain Mehanti on Tuesday said that the judiciary had failed to address the issues of the people with regard to the tyranny of Karachi Electric Supply Company, which they had imposed on the consumers.“The people of Pakistan had fought for the freedom of judiciary and today’s independent judiciary was the result of dedicated struggle by the people of the country.” Mehanti expressed these views while talking to a delegation of KESC Labour Union (CBA) that had called on the JI Karachi chief at Idara-e Noor-e-Haq. JI Deputy Ameer Birjees Ahmed, Nasarullah Shaji, Deputy Secretary Muslim Pervez, Information Secretary Zahid Askari and others were also present. He further said that the grievances of the people would not get resolved until and unless the changes were brought in the country. The labourers and workers should get united for their rights and for a change in the country. He demanded the government should immediately revoke the privatization of the KESC and take it back into the custody of the state as the nationalised institution. He said that Pakistan People’s Party and other political parties in the coalition government claimed to have pro-worker policies but their attitude was totally in contrast to their claims. The JI had always stood beside the working class of people and would continue with its practical pro-labour policies.Meanwhile, the KESC Labour Union (CBA) delegation led by Akhlaq Khan apprised the JI Ameer of problems faced by the labourers. The JI chief assured of complete moral support reading the resolution of their issues. The delegation was consisted of Muhammad Shahzad, Usman Baloch, Abdul Wahid Kazmi, Daood Salam, Tahir Awan and others.Akhlaq Khan said that the privatisation of the KESC was the mother of all evils. The consumers, the industry and the employees were all victims of injustices and tyranny of the KESC.
