KARACHI - The Sindh Government has demanded the federal government continue the salaries of 25,142 Lady Health Workers who are to be transferred to provinces till 2015, which has been finalised under 18th amendment.During a high level meeting chaired by the CM Qaim Ali Shah at CM Secretariat on Wednesday, it was also decided that provincial government will take up the issue with the federal for continuation of salaries.The meeting discussed the issue of salaries as well as to make permanent the services of LHW/Lady Health Supervisors. The meeting was informed that at least 25,142 LHW’s who are to be transferred to the provinces by Federal Government, while it was also emphasized that after 18th amendment, all such employees are understood to be transferred to provincial govt while the Federal Government will continue the funding up to June 2015. The matter was discussed in detail and necessary decision will be taken soon. Meanwhile, the meeting discussed the option of regularization of their services as well as its possible financial burden on the provincial exchequer also is considered, which crossed over one billion annually.The meeting decided to approach the federal government for continuation of salaries of LHW till 2015. The meeting was attended by Sindh Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah , Chief Secretary Sindh Raja M Abbas, Additional Chief Secretary (P&D) Israr Malik, Secretary Health Aftab Khatri, Secretary Finance Naveed Kamran Baloch, Secretary to C.M Agha Jan Akhtar and others.
