3 suspects killed in Karachi encounters

KARACHI  - Three suspects were killed during two separate encounters with the law enforcers in Karachi on Monday.
A suspect was killed and two others escaped during an alleged encounter with the Kharadar police.
Police said the suspects were intercepted during snap-checking but they tried to escape while opening fire on the police. In an exchange of fire, a suspect sustained bullet wounds and died on the spot. two of his companions managed to escape from the scene. Police also claimed to have recovered weapons from his possession. The body was moved to morgue for identification after medicolegal formalities at Civil Hospital. He was later identified as Waqas aka Vicky. Police officials claimed that Waqas was associated with the Sheraz Comrade group of Lyari gangsters. He was wanted to the police in over 40 cases of crime including murders, attempt to murders, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and police encounters.
Earlier, two suspects were killed in an encounter with the police in Ittehad Town area of Baldia Town. Police claimed the killed suspects were the members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and belonged to the Swati group of TTP. SSP Irfan Baloch said the militants were involved in a number of attacks and killings of the police personnel particularly in Baldia Town and its surrounding areas. They were also involved in extortion activities. One of them was later identified as Shahzad Swati. Their bodies were shifted to morgue after medicolegal formalities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Meanwhile, five suspects were taken into custody during a joint operation conducted by the police and rangers in Tariq Road locality in the wee hours of Monday. Police and Rangers did not disclose the identities of the suspects detained during the operation. The suspects were shifted to undisclosed location for further questioning. Police sources said weapons were also recovered from their possession.
Separately, a suspect, wanted to the police in various cases of crime, was arrested along with his two companions during a raid in Sacchal area. DSP Qamar Ahmed said gang leader Bakkar Chandio was wanted to the police in various cases of crime including extortion and street crimes. He was arrested along with his two companions Talib and Zubair along with the weapons. Further investigation was underway.
COP SHOT DEAD FATHER IN KARACHI
A passerby was shot dead during an exchange of fire between the police and bandits in Aziz Bhatti police precincts, Karachi on Monday.  Police said the gunmen were looting the shops near Civic Centre when police rushed to the spot.
During an exchange of fire, the bandits managed to escape while a passerby Adnan Siddiqui, 45, was wounded. He was taken to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.  In another incident, a cop shot dead his father over property dispute in Aziz Bhatti police precincts. Police said sub-inspector Mehrab Khan shot dead his father Misal Khan, 56, over some property dispute. There was a property dispute between Mehrab Khan and Misal Khan, residents of Shanti Nagar. After the brawl, the accused shot dead his father. Police arrested the culprit and registered an FIR.
