Guard shot dead in robbery attempt

KARACHI - Unidentified culprits gunned down an elderly security guard of a private factory in the remit of Korangi Industrial Area Police here in the City on Wednesday. According to details, 60-year-old Mukarram Khan, son of Wazir Khan, was shot dead when he offered resistance during a robbery bid at a factory where he was working as security guard. The Police said that the incident took place in Gulzar Colony when three unidentified robbers entered a textile factory. Meanwhile, Mukarram tried overpower them at which they opened fire at him and fled away with looting anything. The security guard died on the spot while his body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy. Separately, a middle age man identified as Wazir Ahmed, 50 son of Gul Namraiz was killed over old enmity in Swat Colony in the limits of Baldia Police. The Police said that the victim, hailing from Swat, was a labourer. The victims companion namely Taj Mohammad also wounded in the incident. The Police officials suspected that their neighbours-cum-relatives Nabi Khan and Kalu Khan killed him over some personal reasons. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital for legal formalities and later handed over to the family. However, no case was registered till filing of the report.
