KARACHI - At least five people including an activist of the Awami National Party were gunned down while three bodies were recovered on Monday. Areas including Kati Pahari, Orangi Town and surroundings were remained tense following the killing of a senior ANP activist namely Naseeb Khan, 45. Police said the victim was shot four times and was immediately taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he succumbed to injuries. Police said that the incident took place at around 10am when Khan was on his way on a car. He was intercepted and shot by unknown motorcyclists near his resident located in Disalwa Town, Nazimabad within the limits of Shara-e-Noor Jahan police station. As news of his killing spread, scores of people gathered on the roads leading to Orangi Town from Nazimabad and staged protest against the killing. They burnt tyres and pelted the passing vehicles with stones. The protesters also attacked the police mobile and media personnel. The traffic was also suspended for hours. Unidentified armed men also resorted to indiscriminate firing, forcing shopkeepers and traders to shut their commercial activities. The protesters also forcibly closed the office of the board of intermediate. Heavy contingent of the law enforcers had called at the affected area but the law enforcers failed to control the worsened situation of law and order situation for hours. The entire locality wore a deserted look while the routine and commercial activities were also suspended. Some unidentified men also tried to set a truck on fire near Qasba Morr.Naseeb Khan was the former president of Disalwa Town Ward of ANP and presently he was associated with the party as a senior activist. He was also the member of Pakhtun Action Committee-Loya Jirga. His funeral prayer was offered near the Board of Intermediate and later laid to rest in Paracha graveyard in Orangi town.Tension also prevailed in Federal B Industrial Area where unidentified armed men attacked the teashop in block-22 within Federal B Industrial Area police remits. As a result, a constructive builder Anwar Mehsud who was said to be a close aide of the ANP local leader Tariq was killed and two others namely Abdul Malik and Faizullah were injured. Police officials said that the incident took place over personal enmity.In another incident, a young man, who was yet to be identified, killed in Zia Colony within the limits of Orangi Town. Separately, a young man, namely Amanat was gunned down in Sher Shah area. Police officials said that the deceased was killed over offering resistance in a robbery bid. In SITE area, one Ibrahim was killed after unidentified persons stabbed him to death in Metroville area. Police officials said that the deceased killed over domestic dispute.Meanwhile, some bodies were found from different areas. A body of a man, who had yet to be identified, was found from Bhens Colony within the limits of Sukkun police station. Police officials said that the victim was shot once in his head after kidnapping. His body had also several marks of torture. Another body was found from Gujjar Nullah within the limits of Gulbahar police station. A three-day-old body of a teenager was found from the water tank in FB Area. The deceased was identified as Inayatur Rehman. Police officials said that the unidentified persons dumped the body into the water tank after torture.Violence also broke out in Godhra Colony in New Karachi after some unidentified persons shot and injured a trader namely Zafar Iqbal. The incident also triggered violence and mob pelted the passing vehicles with stones. The traffic and the routine and commercial activities were also suspended. Police officials said that the trader was injured in a robbery bid.
