CID’s new chief kills 3 TTP men in Karachi

KARACHI - The new chief of Crime Investigation Department’s Counter Terrorism Unit, Shafi Tanoli claimed to have killed three alleged commanders of outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in an encounter took place within the jurisdiction of Mauripur police station Friday.
Inspector Shafiq Tanoli, who had recently escaped the bomb blast outside his home assumed the charge as chief of CID Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) after the killing of slain CTU chief SP Chaudhry Aslam Khan.
The announcement has been made by the Sindh Police on Friday. Earlier, Tanoli claimed to have killed three TT commanders, including Mirza Ali, the TTP Ameer for Ittehad Town, Sher Muhammad, the TTP Ameer of the Landhi Town, and Amanullah Mehsud. The police party headed by inspector Tanoli was passing through the Scheme 42 near Musharraf Colony where they saw three terrorists.
The terrorists opened fire on the police when it tried to intercept them.
During an exchange of fire all the three terrorists were killed on the spot. Police claimed the victims were affiliated with the TTP while during the encounter no policeman was wounded.
Police claimed to have recovered a motorcycle and weapons, including a hand grenade, Kalashnikov and a pistol. The bodies have been shifted to mortuary after autopsy.
CRACKER ATTACKS
As many as four people were injured in three separate incidents of cracker attacks. A leader of Awami National Party was also among the injured. Police arrested three wounded students of a seminary after a mysterious blast inside the mosque here in Al-Falah police precincts.
Three students were busy cleaning the rooftop of the mosque situated at Millat Town, the area of Al-Falah when explosive material lying at the roof exploded suddenly.
All the three students, including Iqrar, Salahuddin and Naseer sustained injuries.
They were shifted to the hospital where police took them into custody to verify the statements of others. Police said the wounded persons were not in a condition to record their statements therefore it would be difficult to say anything before proper investigation.
In another incident, the house of a ANP leader also came under attack within the jurisdictions of Sharafi Goth police station.
Police said unknown miscreants hurled a hand grenade at the house of Aziz Khan, a labour leader affiliated with ANP. The house is situated at Feature Colony, Sharafi Goth. Khan was injured in the attack while the gate and wall of the house was partially damaged. He was shifted to Jinnah Hospital. The ANP leadership has asked the government to provide security to the party leaders. ANP’s provincial leader Bahsir Jan said Khan was receiving threats by the Taliban.
Similarly, unknown miscreants threw a cracker at a shop at Qasba Mor. The blast did not hurt anybody.
