Security beefed up at 300 sensitive points in Karachi

The Karachi police on Thursday declared 300 places of worships sensitive points and decided to beef up security in their vicinities during the fasting month of Ramadan, reported a private TV channel. A high-level meeting of police and rangers officials headed by Capital City Police Officer Wasim Ahmed took place in Karachi. Three DIGs, DIG Traffic, CPLC chief and Town police officials also attended the meeting. Karachi police chief Wasim Ahmed said that strict security measures would be put in place at mosques, Imambargahs and places of Namaaz-e-Taraveeh. Declaring 300 points of Taraveeh congregations as sensitive, the CCPO ordered deployment of more security personnel in their vicinities. The participants of the meeting also review the strategy that was devised to stop the incidents of targeted killings.
