KARACHI - Leaders of the Difa-i-Pakistan Council claimed that the Sunday (today) rally near Quaid-e-Azam’s Mausoleum will be against the US drone attacks and possible restoration of Nato supplies to Afghanistan.
Addressing a joint press conference here, they announced that the Difa-e-Pakistan Council will hold a protest outside the Parliament House against the drone attacks.
The DPC will also organize an all parties’ conference on 27th on the Balochistan issue and has invited the nationalist parties. Earlier DFC held a meeting chaired by Maulna Samiul Haq. The leaders at the meeting expressed their concerns over current scenario. JI Amir Munawar Hassan said that war against terrorism is not our war it’s the American priority. APML President Shiekh Rasheed said that the current coalition of DPC was not like coalition of IJI. He said the coalition was formed after the Salaala incident where government didn’t play its role. The moot being held by Difa-e-Pakistan Conference, a coalition of parties and individuals including Jamatud Dawa, the Awami Muslim League, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, and other religious parties, excluding Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl. Several renowned personalities, including Gen (retd) Hameed Gul and Gen (r) Aslam Baig would also address the conference.
DPC leaders on Saturday visited the site of convention, where they were briefed about the arrangements.
They were informed that all the arrangements for the event have been completed. Walkthrough gates have been installed, media gallery has been set up and 3,500 volunteers were assigned to maintain security of the convention. Meanwhile, Additional Inspector General Karachi Akhter Gorchani, when contacted said that in response to the plea of the Jamaat-e-Islami, security is being provided to the convention.
He said that in this regard 2500 police personals would be deployed.
