HSC Part-II Home Economics results announced

KARACHI - The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on Friday announced the results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) Part-II Home Economics Group Annual Examination-2008. None of the candidates got A-One grade in the examinations, while Rana Liaquat Ali Khan Govt College of Home Economics Karachi has fetched all three top positions in the said examinations. According to results, Bareera Afzal D/O Syed Muhammad Afzal Naqvi (Rana Liaquat Ali Khan Govt College of Home Economics Karachi), bearing Roll Number 170656 has obtained first position with 78 per cent marks out of total 1200 marks, Rabia Sarfaraz D/O Shiekh Sarfaraz Amin (Rana Liaquat Ali Khan Govt College of Home Economics Karachi), bearing Roll Number 170839 got second position with 76.67 percentage and Marium Sheikh D/O Salahuddin (Rana Liaquat Ali Khan Govt College of Home Economics Karachi), bearing Roll Number 170770 secured third position with 76.25 percentage. A total of 450 candidates got registered themselves in the examination out of which 444 appeared and 255 candidates declared to be passed with 57.43 pass percentage. BIEK Chairman Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai, while speaking at ceremony held at the BIEK to honor the position holders, congratulated all position holders especially to their parents and college teachers, and said that the announcement of the results has been made 16 days early than the last year; however this credit goes to the administration of the board. He said, "All results have been made through computer applications therefore there are fewer chances of errors and omission in the results. It is very difficult to obtain A-One grade in descriptive type examinations that is why no candidate could get A-One grade in the examinations." He claimed that the announcements of all results of the class XII would be completed till 31 August 2008, following the directions of the steering committee. He announced that the BIEK was going to hold a "Talented Girls Summer Camp" from 25 to 30 July at the provincial level. Nearly 40 students, completing SSC Part-II in 2006 and getting enrolled in HSC Part-I, will be invited form all examination board of Sindh, he said and added that this camp would provide students the opportunity of exchanging ideas and experiences. He said that the BIEK would arrange study visits for students under the said programme.                   Talking to newsmen, the position holders of the examinations said that loadshedding had been the main problem in term of preparing for the examination. Keeping in view of current power crises, the examinations should be conducted in the winter season to facilitate the students, they said and termed 'home economics' sound field for female students to secure their professional future. They said, "We are studying hoe economics at he Rana Liaquat Ali Khan Govt College of Home Economics Karachi but the college is deprived of gas that cause us lot of problems while doing practical exams. During the examinations some students were cheating freely. Conversely, during the examination, a total of 14 candidates passed in A, 72 in B Grade, 107 in C Grade, 59 in D grade and only 3 candidates declared to be passed in E Grade.
