KARACHI - Five people were shot dead in various violent incidents in Karachi on Wednesday.
One cop was shot dead here in Mominabad police precincts.
Police said the police mobile van was at a repair workshop at Hazara Chowk, Pukhtoonabad where gunmen riding a motorbike reached and sprayed bullets. The assailants managed to escape after the incident. Three people including two cops were wounded who were rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced the death of Yasir Ali, an ex-army soldier who joined the police force recently. Another police constable Iqbal Ikram and a passerby Asif Muhammad were admitted for treatment.
Police high ups termed the incident a negligence of concerned SHO who was demoted and suspended.
Meanwhile, some gunmen shot dead a man in Muzaffarabad Colony in Quaidabad police precincts. Police said Goga Nimroz, resident of the same area, was standing outside his home when gunmen riding a motorbike targeted him and fled. He was shifted to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
In another incident of firing, some gunmen shot dead a man in Awami Colony police precincts. Police said the victim Inzamam Paras was at home when gunmen barged into the house and shot him dead. Police handed the body over to the family after autopsy. The motive behind the murder has yet to be ascertained.
Moreover, police found a shot dead burnt body from a playground in Korangi No-3. In Mobina Town police precincts, police found a body of a young woman. Police said the culprits abducted the woman and tortured her before strangulated her to death. Police shifted the body to morgue for identification after autopsy.
