PML(N), PTI hold protest brallies

KARACHI - Different political parties here on Sunday held rallies to pay tribute to May 12 victims and for the restoration of deposed judges. Pakistan Muslim League (N) Sindh Chapter, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), Pasban and other non-political organisations staged rallies to show solidarity with the victims of May 12 carnage. Political workers of different parties, holding party flags and banners, slammed the May 12, 2007 incident and demanded an independent inquiry in this respect and restoration of deposed judges to uphold rule of law and judiciary in the country. Addressing the rally Sindh PML-N acting President Saleem Zia threatened that if PPP coalition government had failed to restore the deposed judges on May 12 deadline than PML-N will say goodbye to the government. He vowed that PML-N would continue its struggle for the restoration of deposed judges and stand side-by-side with legal fraternity strove for their restoration   He vowed that PML-N would fulfil the promises and never compromised on the restoration of judges. "We made pledge with the people of the country and the PML-N would not allow the military dictator to bulldoze all the institutions," he added. He demanded that culprits involved in May 12 carnage should be brought to book and stern action should be taken against them. He held responsible the previous government for the incident. PML-N leader Tariq Khan demanded for establishing a neutral tribunal to probe into the May 12 incident, and said without conducting any fair inquiry neither the culprits involved would be arrested nor the victim's relatives could get justice who lost their beloved. Moreover, Sindh Awami National Party (ANP) chapter also held rally at Bacha Khan Chowk at Banaras and lambasted the killings of innocent people and ANP workers on May 12, 2007. Addressing the rally, ANP provincial leaders demanded an immediate arrest of the culprits involved and also demanded to restore the pre November 3 judiciary. On the other side, People's Resistance (alliance of various NGOs) staged rally in DHA, the rally led by Mehmood-ul-Hassan President of Karachi Bar Association. While Justice (r) Fakharuddin G Ibrahim and other representatives of civil society took part in the rally, they also chanting slogans for the restoration of deposed judges.
