KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movements Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) on the directives of party chief Altaf Hussain on Monday dispatched relief goods and medicines worth more than Rs 10 million for the displaced people of Swat, Buner and Shangla. Addressing a press conference, MQM Rabita Committee member and Provincial Minister Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari said that KKFs operation for the affected people would continue until the peace restored in tribal area and the victims returned to the their homes. Provincial Minister Adil Siddiqui, MQM Rabita Committee member Saleem Tajik, Shakir Ali, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan and others were also present on the occasion. Bukhari said that MQM had handed over relief goods and donations to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). He pointed out that NDMA Chairman Major General (R) Farooq Ahmed had phoned the MQM chief Altaf Hussain and appealed him to help displaced people of Bunner, Swat and Malakand. He added that MQM had earlier given a cheque of Rs 1 million for the victims of Swat. MQM Haqparast parliamentary group had deposited Rs 5 million on the account of Speaker National Assembly Fahmida Mirza. Moreover, MQM parliamentary leader Farooq Sattar handed over relief goods worth Rs1.5 million to the NDMA in Islamabad. A truck carrying relief goods was also dispatched and another was ready to be sent on Monday. Provincial Minister Shoaib Bukhari added that the MQM had, so far, dispatched relief goods and donations worth Rs 10 million. He said that Dr Farooq Sattar would present a cheque of Rs 1 million to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, donated by MQM chief Altaf Hussain for the victims of Swat, Buner and Shangla. Bukhari said that MQM has also established a relief camp to collect relief goods and donations at the KKF office. He said that affected people of Swat, Buner and Shangla needed medicines, relief goods, shelters, blankets, generators, cloths and other items of daily use. He appealed to the people and philanthropists to come forward to help the victims. Responding to a query, he backed the operation of Pakistan Army against the terrorists in Swat, Malakand, Buner and Shangla, saying that its was imperative to safeguard stability and sovereignty of the country.
