SSA secy attributes success to Jahangir

KARACHI Secretary of the SSA Engineer Tahir Khanzada, who personally received the trophy, said from Islamabad that the SSA could not have won the trophy without the support of former world champion Jahangir Khan, Navy and a number of sponsors who came forward to support the events organized by the SSA. He said Jahangir Khan took time to guide and support the SSA. Navy was generous enough to allow training facilities to the SSA at its complex. He said the SSA was also thankful to its sponsors Pakistan Sports Trust, Kazim Anwar AHDA Trust, Rockrete Pvt Ltd, Paharmarech Pvt Ltd, Civil Aviation Authority for their support. Without them the SSA would not have won the honour second time. Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman, NI (M), S Bt Chief of the Air Staff & President Pakistan Squash Federation presented the trophy to SSA secretary. The SSA official requested Dr Syed Mohammad Ali Shah, Minister for Sports Government of Sindh, to intervene in the opening of the newly-built squash complex at PSB Centre Karachi. The complex was completed in November 2009 and only the MOU between the PSF and the PSB was delaying the inauguration of the complex. The SSA has obtained 112 points and the runner-up was Punjab Squash Association which obtained 60 points. The SSA, he said had also proposed to the PSF AGM to hold national ranking tournaments in four different cities of the province. The SSA had plans to hold the events besides Karachi in Hyderabad, Sukkur and Rashidabad (District Tando Allayar). The pervious record of the pride of performance trophy is as under: NWFP Squash Association won in the year 1993 and 1994. Punjab Squash Association has won from 1995 to 2007. Sindh Squash Association has won in the year 2008 & 2009.
