KARACHI - Sindh government has notified massive reshuffle in the Sindh Police to improve the performance of police during the targeted operation.
Provincial government on Thursday made a major reshuffling in Sindh police department in which four additional IGs and 18 DIGs were replaced and posted.
Shahid Hayat has been posted as new city police chief while DIG Ghulam Qadir Thebo has been posted to Traffic Police along with the DIGs, SSPs of all the districts were also replaced.
Additional IG Bashir Ahmed Memon posted as RD/5, DIG Munir Shaikh posted to DIG East, Tahir Naveed is now being appointed on the slot of DIG Finance, Mushtaq Mehar DIG Headquarter, Sanaullah Abbasi DIG Special Branch, Kamran Fazal DIG Crime Branch, Abdul Khaliq Shaikh DIG South, Javaid Odho DIG West, Arif Hanif DIG Traffic Karachi, Sharjeel Kharal DIG Sukkur, Khadim Rind DIG Larkana, Farhat Junajo DIG Admin, Farooq Azam RRF, Amir Ahmed Shaikh DIG CID, DIG Ghulam Sarwar Jamali posted to Crime Branch Hyderabad.
It is worth mentioning here it has also been decided to reshuffle the SPs, DSPs and SHOs of the city.
Rangers held 50 suspects
In a drive of targeted operation, law enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested over 50 suspects during raids in different areas.
Rangers claimed to have arrested some 30 alleged criminals, including target killers and extortionists affiliated with defunct organizations and political parties.
The operation was conducted in Lee Market, Ghafoor Basti, Mehran Town, Surjani Town, New Karachi, Gareebabad, Pipri, Ranchor Line, Garden and other localities. Rangers also claimed to have arrested extortionists from Hub River Road demanding rupees 3 million extortion to a businessman.
Police also claimed to have conducted 129 raids and arrested 152, including 41 absconders and other criminals. It recovered 49 illegal weapons and five bombs.
