Another four terror suspects escape police custody

KARACHI - Four more alleged terrorists booked in the bomb attacks on the MQM, managed to jailbreak from the City Courts on Saturday.
The two suspects, including Ghulam Ishaq Mehsud and Nazrab Khan were arrested along with 200 kilogramme explosives and weapons by Anti-Extremist Cell of the Crime Investigation Department.
They were arrested during a raid conducted in Taliban stronghold area, Manghopir on June 22. They belonged to the Hakeemullah Mehsud group and were associated with the group’s leader in Karachi, Shair Khan.
Police charged them in the blast took place at MQM offices during the election campaign in Karachi. Police produced them before the court of the judicial magistrate Afzal Roshan amidst tight security for identification parade where one witness also identified them. The accused managed to flee when the CID police were taking them back to the Armed Personnel Carrier (APC).
CID personnel removed handcuffs for producing them before the judge, police sources said, adding that police personnel on duty didn’t offer resistance.
Following the incident, six CID officials, including two inspectors, Islam Gul and Hameed Niazi and four constables Asif, Wajid, Javed and Zafar were detained by the City Court police, however, a case of negligence was registered against them.
Similarly, a man and his son were managed to escape after they were produced before the court. The accused Rehman and Farhan arrested in a fraud case escaped after the court rejected their bail plea. It is pertinent to mention here that three more accused persons were also managed to flee from Anti Terrorism Court on Thursday.
