KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of legendary singer Medhi Hassan who passed away here on Wednesday after protracted illness.In a condolence message, he said that late Mehdi Hassan was termed as ‘Shahanshah-i-Ghazal’ owing to his exceptional expertise in ghazal-singing and classical music.He said that the services of the deceased in the realms of music and singing would be long remembered all over the world.The chief minister said that Medhi Hasan’s demise has created a vaccum in the sphere of music which is difficult to be filled.He also prayed to Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.Chief Minister’s Special Assistants Rashid Hussain Rabbani and Waqar Medhi have also condoled the demise of Medhi Hassan.They said that the deceased’s services in the relams of music would always be remembered.Meanwhile, the Rabita Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has expressed grief and sorrow on demise of legendary ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan. They said that Mehdi Hassan was a great national asset, and his name would never be forgotten in the world of ghazal singing. They expressed condolences with the bereaved family members and prayed Almighty Allah to rest the soul in eternal peace.Sindh Senior Minister, Pir Mazhar ul Haq, on Wednesday visited the residence of late Medhi Hassan to offer condolences with the bereaved family on the demise of the legendary singer.A statement said that he also delivered a condolence message on behalf of President Asif Ali Zardari.Pir Mazhar said on the occasion that artists like Medhi Hassan always remain alive in history.Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad has expressed deep grief over the demise of renowned ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan.In a condolence message here on Wednesday, the Governor expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the death of Mehdi Hassan. Paying rich tribute to the renowned singer Mehdi Hasan, the Governor said that he was a legend and his death is a great loss. He prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss. Meanwhile, the governor has directed the concerned authorities to make arrangements for his burial in the park, named after him in Nazimabad area. The governor further directed that a tomb should be constructed keeping in view of his stature.
