University of Malaya team visits Dow University

KARACHI - A six-member University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia delegation headed by Dr Ghuth Jamson, Vice Chancellor of University of Malaya along with the members of Higher Education Commission (HEC) visited the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) on Thursday as part of their initiative to visit higher education institutions across Pakistan for future academic collaborations. The visit of the delegation to Dow University is aimed at exploring opportunities to have collaboration with special emphasis on areas such as engineering, medicine, information technology and business. The delegation was received by Prof Dr Masood Hameed Khan, Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr M Umer Farooq, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Zeenat Ayub, Registrar, Prof Dr Rana Qamar, Director-Quality Enhancement Cell and Prof Dr Shams Nadeem Alam. Masood briefed the delegation about the history and establishments of Dow University and the progress it has made over the years. The delegation was also briefed about university’s different undergraduates and postgraduates programme and health care service programmes. The DUHS VC also briefed the delegation about the envisaged projects which the DUHS had undertaken and about to initiate in collaboration with the other different institutions. Later on, the delegation took an extensive round of the Dow University and Dow Medical College including it departments, laboratories besides Surgical and Medical Units, PDC, QEC and computerized IT Department. During the visit, the delegation also met with professors and senior faculty members of the university. Ghuth Jamson in his brief comments appreciated the measures being taken for the elevation of the university with the hope that it would go a long way in context of teaching, learning and research programmes. The delegation appreciated the efforts of Dow University’s VC in bringing up the university at par with international standard. He also hoped to have academic collaborations in future. In the end, Masood Hameed presented DUHS memento to the members of University of Malaya and HEC.
