KARACHI - Balochistan-based senators, parliamentarians as well as other nationalist leaders are likely to meet in Karachi over the recent killings of Baloch people in the metropolitan. Senator Muhammad Ismail Buledi, leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), told The Nation that his walkout from the senate session against the killings of Baloch people was not enough and some other necessary initiatives are to be decided in the proposed meeting. He said that he was in touch with other nationalist leaders and they all would gather in Lyari in the coming week. The meeting of the Balochistans leaders is likely to be held in the next week, while it will be announced after the confirmation from all the participants, he added. Senator Buledi along with Dr Malik Baloch of Nation Party walked-out the last session of the Senate in protest against the alleged police brutalities in Lyari conducted by law enforcers. Deputy Chairman Senate Jan Muhammad Jamali and other senators and members of national assembly belonging to different parties including treasury members of the PPP, Raza Rabbani, Qadir Patel, Sher Muhammad Baloch, Nawab Yousuf Talpur, and others also staged walkout. He condemned the joint operation of rangers and police and said that the raids in Lyari are discriminatory as the law enforcers had launched a search operation in Lyari and entered the houses without taking elected representatives of the area in confidence. Senator Ismail Buledi is a central leader of JUI from Zamran, Turbat, Balochistan, has said that Lyari was a PPP stronghold but unfortunately such aggressive operation has been launched against the PPP voters and supporters. According to a report, Chairman Constitutional Reforms Committee Raza Rabbani had also offered his resignation from all parliamentary committees over a disagreement with the governments decision to launch an operation in Lyari. On the other side, the Baloch nationalist parties have announced to observe a strike on Friday to protest against recent target killings of Baloch youths in Karachi. The strike is likely to be observed in different Baloch dominated areas including Lyari, Malir, Keamari, Site, Bin Qasim, Gulshan, Gadap and others on the call given by Baloch National Party (BNP) and endorsed by other Karachi-based nationalist groups. The BNP spokesman urged the Baloch people to observe the strike peacefully by pulling down their shutters. He also urged the transporters not to ply their vehicles on Karachi to Hub Road on Friday as a mark of solidarity with Baloch people. Meanwhile, Baloch nationalist parties in Balochistan has also decided to observe one-day strike on recent Karachi incidents all over Balochistan to express their solidarity with Baloch people in Karachi. Similarly, Baloch Rabita Ittefaq Tehrik has urged all the Baloch nationalist parties and groups to set aside their differences and forge unity in their ranks. A meeting of the Rabita Tehrik was held here under the chairmanship of Prince Mohyuddin Baloch. The meeting expressed concerns over the recent incidents of target killings in Karachi in which several Baloch youths had been killed. The participants of the meeting have termed the recent violence as calculated attempt on the part of hidden forces to intimidate the Baloch populace in Karachi in a bid to uproot them from their ancestral land, while it was also observed in the meeting that the Baloch would never surrender their political as well as economic rights and right of self-governance.
