ASWJ rally observes Siddique-e-Akbar Day

KARACHI – Activists of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, formerly known as the (banned) Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan, on Monday took out a rally from Numaish Chowrangi to Tibet Centre to mark the Youm-e-Siddique-e-Akbar (RA) Day.
Qari Rab Nawaz Hanfi, Dr Fayyaz and Maulana Allah, who were heading the rally, in their addresses, regretted that the government did not observe death anniversaries of holy personalities of Islam at the state level.
They complained that the government used to observe labour day but did not pay respect to 22nd Jamaad-ul-Thani, the day of the demise of first caliph Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique (RA).
They demanded the government to immediately announce public holidays on death anniversaries of holy personalities of Islam. Activists of the JUI-S, Sunni Wehdat Council also participated in the rally.
Police had blocked main streets through containers and buses to avoid any untoward happening.
