4 perish in violence; bandit killed in shootout

KARACHI - Four people were killed in separate violence-related incidents in the metropolis, while an alleged bandit was gunned down and his accomplice arrested in a shootout with police at Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, on Sunday.
According to detail, a bullet-riddled body of a man was found from Janjal Goth. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later moved to morgue for identification. Gulshan-e-Maymar police while quoting the eyewitnesses said that pillion armed riders came and escaped after shooting him. The police suspected the deceased was affiliated with criminals and his companions might have killed him over personal dispute.
Separately, a strangulated body of a man was found inside the house in Banaras within the remits of SITE-A Police Station. The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Mohammad Khan. The body was shifted to ASH for autopsy and motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, an alleged bandit was gunned down while his accomplice arrested in a shootout with police near Hassan Square, Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
DSP Nasir Lodhi said that at least four bandits were busy looting a passenger bus. A police mobile after being inform reached there and tried to intercept them, the bandits opened fire on police mobile. The police team also retaliated and in the crossfire, a bandit identified as Yaar Muhammad sustained injuries while his accomplice Rehman got arrested. However two of their accomplices managed to escape in cover of firing. Later, Yaar Muhammad succumbed to injuries during treatment at hospital. The officer said two pistols and other valuables were also recovered from their possession.
Meanwhile Additional Inspector General (AIG), Karachi Shahid Hayyat gave reward money of Rs50, 000 to the police party and also announced performance certificate.
Meanwhile, a man was gunned down while at least four people including children were wounded in armed clashes between two rival groups of Lyari gangsters. As per detail, notorious gangsters of Baba Ladla and outlawed People’s Amn Committee continued their clashes in order to gain control of Lyari areas.
Firing and grenade attacks continued throughout the last night, elevating tension in the area. According to the sources, dozens of Baba Ladla group members ambushed the house of Shahidul Rehman Baloch alias Shahid MCB, a member of Uzair Baloch group. They set the house on fire and hurled hand grenades on it.
