KARACHI - Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that during the last 8 years, 16 billion dollars have been added to the national exchequer but due to the wrong stories spread by some TV channels about President Musharraf, the stock exchange lost 15 billion dollars in just 15 days. Such fabricated stories caused damage to the country. He said that MQM has done its best to serve the people and established a unique system that could be gradually used to cover whole city within 6 months. In the first phase of the project, two signal free corridors have been covered while the area from Airport to Tower via Shahrae Faisal, Orangi Town to Tower, Sohrab Goth to Tower, Safoora Goth to Tower and Bagh Ibne Qasim will be included in the network, he said. The Nazim expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the newly established Command and Control Centre at Civic Centre on Sunday. Earlier, the Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan formally inaugurated the C&CC. I.G Sindh Dr. Shoaib Suddle, provincial IT minister Raza Haroon, City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil and other dignitaries were also present on thE occasion. The Nazim said that Haq Parast City Government has done unprecedented work in the last two and a half year and the credit for this should go to the team. They all worked as a team under President of Pakistan who personally monitored all activities to ensure the timely completion of uplift projects. He said that the system will now be extended to other parts of the city. Initially a total of 36 km area has been covered through video cameras installed on two busy corridors. He said that new system has been established to provide convenience and security to citizens adding that City Nazim Lahore has also contacted him so that the same system could be implemented there.
