IGP finally wakes up from deep slumber



KARACHI  - The Inspector General of Police Sindh, Mushtaq Shah, has directed that measures be beefed up to prevent the incidents of bank dacoities.A police statement here on Friday said that he has also sought a report regarding the performance of the Special Investigating Unit regarding the investigations into the cases registered for bank dacoities and the preventive steps taken to check the bank dacoities.He directed the implementation of bank security manual and the directives of the State Bank in this regard should also be ensured.The IGP also directed that a system be devised for reviewing the security measures for the bank branches and implementation on this should also be ensured. He also instructed that the police officers should personally visit the bank branches and review the security steps.SINDH OMBUDSMAN TAKES SUO MOTU NOTICEAsad Ashraf Malik, Ombudsman Sindh, has taken suo motu notice of reported drowning of a three years old child in a sewerage hole in Sharafi Goth of district Malir.  A statement here on Friday said that he has called for immediate report from the Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department and Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) on the negligence resulting in the unfortunate death of the child.It said that the Ombudsman initiated action following report in a national daily about the death of the child who fell into the open manhole. According to the report, road was under construction in the area and heavy machinery deployed for the work had damaged the cover of the sewerage, which resulted in the unfortunate death.
