BIEK announces HSC Part-II Commerce results

KARACHI - The Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) Part-II Commerce regular and private (groups) annual examination-2008 was announced by the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on Monday. Not a single government college can obtain position in the examination including Government Commerce College and Government Premier College. Institute of Business Education fetched all two top positions in the HSC Part-II Commerce regular examinations. Muhammad Amin s/o Muhammad Anwar, roll number 282140 has obtained first position with 86.45 per cent marks out of total 1100 marks, Hassan Mujtaba s/o Jawaid Ali, roll number 282125 got second position with 86 per cent marks. On the other hand, Ismat Fatima d/o Ahmed Ali Jivani of DA Degree College for Women DHA, roll number 291949 secured third position with 85.09 per cent. According to statistics of the results, a total of 24,602 candidates including 9,284 female and 15,318 male got themselves registered in the examination out of which 24,153 (9109 female, 15044 male) appeared and 13,650 (6319 female, 7331 male) candidates declared successful with 56.51 pass percentage. A total of 109 candidates got A-One grade, 1401 A, 3226 B, 5321 C, 3449 D and 144 got E grade. Conversely, in the HSC Part-II Commerce private (group) examinations, Syed Zaigha Riaz s/o Syed Riaz Hussain Sherazi, roll number 373920 has obtained first position with 80.28 per cent marks out of total 1100 marks, Sadia Hussain d/o Khalid Hussain, roll number 391914 got second position with 79.82 percentage and Tahira Farid Ansari d/o Fariduddin Ashraf Ansari, roll number 375512 procured third position with 76.82 pass percentage.  According to statistics, a total of 11,900 candidates including 2,149 female and 9,751 male got registered themselves in the examination out of which 11,252 (2,099 female, 9,153 male) appeared and 4,709 (783 female, 3,926 male) candidates declared successful with 41.85 pass percentage. A total of two candidates got A-One grade in the examinations, 38 A, 446 B, 1907 C, 2188 D and 128 candidates got E grade. Speaking at the ceremony held at the BIEK to honour the position holders, BIEK Chairman Prof Anwar Ahmed Zia congratulated the toppers of both the examinations, and said that this year around two per cent increase in the enrolments to the faculty of commerce had been observed. "Last year around 22,630 candidates were enrolled in the regular examinations of the said faculty, while a total of 24,602 candidates have been enrolled in the regular examination this year. Conversely, as many as 9,144 candidates were registered in private examination last year but this year such examination is witnessed 11,900 enrolments which is a considerable increase as compare to last year."          Talking about the model papers, which is going to be implemented next year, he said that a meeting of all the controllers of examination boards would soon be held after Eid at the provincial level to create harmony among the boards in terms of implementing the model papers, a new examining method. "The new examination method will be divided into three segments including objective questions of 50 per cent, short answers of 20 per cent and detailed answers of 30 per cent," he added. Zia also announced the scholarships for the 17 position holders of the commerce faculty, saying that each position holder will be given Rs 500 per month on account of the scholarships for two years.      The toppers of both the examinations, while talking to newsmen, said that our country could get required progress if our present medium of instruction changed with the national language. They said, "Private educational institutions are performing well in terms of imparting commerce education, hence there is no need to get tuition outside the institution. Parents and teachers play vital role in progress of any student during his examination. Loadshedding and price-hike are the major social problems of the metropolis, these problems should be dealt on priority basis." The said that the political instability in the City needed proper attention of the government, which usually cause impediments in the activities of daily life.
