ANP senior leader escapes attack

KARACHI - Awami National Party (ANP) senior leader and the party General Secretary Sindh, Bashir Jan narrowly escaped cracker attacks at Frontier Colony within the jurisdiction of Pirabad police Station.
According to details, Bashir Jan was on way to home after offering fateha of ANP local leader Ameer Sardar, who was gunned down a couple of days ago, when culprits threw two crackers on his vehicle (ASP- 827).
Following the incident, two police guards and a passer-by wounded while Bashir escaped the attack. The injured was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
SSP Amir Farooqui when contacted said that gunmen of Bashir Jan also resorted to firing in retaliation. After the incident tension prevailed in the Frontier Colony and surrounding areas, and all business activities were suspended. No case was registered till the filing of the report.  
Meanwhile, police found a beheaded body of a young man from nullah of G Alana Road within the remits of Baghdadi police station.
Earlier, police found his head from Kharadar area then his beheaded body from the said area.  Police suspected that unknown culprits after kidnapping, slaughtered him. The identification of the victim has yet to be ascertained till the filing of the report.
Ex nazim Keamari laid to rest: A former PPP Keamari Town Nazim and PS-89 General Secretary Zulfiqar Younus was laid to  rest in his ancestral graveyard at Younusabad, Mauripur here Thursday.
Earlier, the namaz-e-janaza of the deceased was offered at Eidgah Ground which was attended among others by PPP leaders, Nisar Ahmed Khoro, Nadeem Bhutto, Akhter Jadoon, Rashid Rabbani, Syed Najmi Alam and his relatives.
The soyem will be held on Friday between Asr and Maghrib prayers at Younuasbad Mauripur, Hawksbay here.
It may be noted here that Zulfiqar Younas was injured in an armed attack Mauripur Road about one month ago and succumbed to injuries in a local hospital.
Students of Dawood School celebrate Independence day: The students of Dawood Public School celebrated the Independence day with great vigor and enthusiasm at their school on Thursday.
An official of the institution said that the students of all the sections (Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary, A level) and administration and menial staff of Dawood Public School participated in series of events in which skits and national songs were presented. The theme of the celebration was ‘Pakistan in a Global Perspective’.
Students of class 6th to 9th prepared projects based on the theme ‘Pakistan in a Global Perspective’. Through the project students showcased the diversity of culture and values of Pakistan to the world and vice versa. All classes represented different aspects of Pakistan through plays, documentaries and presentations.
