KARACHI - Majid Nizami has called for a strong and united nation to safeguard the ideological frontiers of the country side-by-side the geographical frontiers. We need to stand up, as was for the creation of the motherland. The prevailing circumstances warrant the same spirit that was demonstrated during Pakistan Movement. Majid Nizami, Chief Executive Nawa-i-Waqt Group of Newspapers, expressed these views while addressing the 11th Farzandan-i-Pakistan, Hameed Nizami Educational Awards 2009 ceremony here on Thursday. Students of class 9 and 10 and Intermediate part-I and II, who had secured top positions in the annual examination 2009 were nominated for the awards. Speaking at the occasion, Majid Nizami said, We need to accept that the ideology of Pakistan, which led to the creation of Pakistan was an acceptable forte; because Hindus and Muslims are two separate nations residing in the sub-continent for centuries. Mughal kings even ruled over the Hindus; who were in majority; with the coming of the Britishers, at least the Muslims were able to make their demand for a separate homeland in the Pakistan Resolution. We have to accept that two nations reside in the sub-continent, and will reside forever. Mr Nizami maintained. He said that today, he still feel the pangs of Dhaka Fall and the creation of Bangladesh. Speaking on the occasion, Mian Abdul Majid said that it was a myth that the children of Pakistan did not value Pakistan, adding that their love and passion for the country was beyond any doubt. Its not that they are unaware of the ideology of Pakistan, it is a misconception. The children of today look out for Jinnahs Pakistan as has been perceived in history books and they have certainly not received it, he detailed. Asad Rizvi, an educationist said, One-third of our population consists of students and the youth, so I certainly believe we will never become a fail State, since I have hope with my next generation. He cautioned that the upcoming generation must be aware of the problems that could crop up in the next 50 years - from increase in the rate of life expectancy, to urban migration, to enhanced need of educational, scientific and technological development and for the world into becoming a more globalized village. Saeed Khawar, Resident Editor Nawa-i-Waqt, said that book-reading culture was once heritage of the nation and added that certainly, instead of strengthening this bound, we had lost this treasure trove. Pakistan needs to move ahead as was Iqbals dream and Jinnahs passion; for that educational system must be made stronger. Ali Akbar Gujjar, in his speech, stressed that the education was the sole key to national development and prosperity, adding that only the education could guarantee a better future for the Pakistani nation. I am exceedingly proud of the students who have been able to score high grades in the examinations, he expressed. Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion were: Rana Ashfaq, Abdul Hadi Khan, Bilal Ejaz Shafi and Kamal Nadeem. Later, Majid Nizami gave away to the toppers in different categories.
