Sindh govt announces Rs2.5b Ramazan package

KARACHI – Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah Thursday announced Rs2.5 billion Ramazan package to provide relief to the masses. A meeting in this regard was held with CM Qaim Ali Shah in the chair. A committee of secretaries was constituted for implementing the package. The government of Sindh has decided to provide 200,000million tonnes of wheat during Ramazan to facilitate the consumers throughout the province. As per decision, under “Sindh Government Ramazan Package – 2012”, the region wise distribution of the allocated quantity of 200,000million tonnes wheat has been made. As per details, Karachi region has been allocated 90,000 million tonnes wheat; Hyderabad region 35,000 million tonnes wheat; Sukkur region 45,000 million tonnes wheat; Mirpurkhas region 15,000 million tonnes wheat and Larkana region has been allocated 15,000 million tonnes wheat. SThe Sindh Food Department has announced wheat release from July 18 by providing wheat to flour mills at Rs1875 per 100 kg bag. As per decision, the Deputy Directors/District Food Controllers concerned will be responsible for ensuring the packing of atta under fixed rate of Rs23 per kg along with date of production, price and its origin. Besides, the district administrations have been asked to open Bachaat Bazaars and special Ramadan Bazaars.SINDH POLICE’S STEPS TO CONTROL TRAFFIC FLOW DURING RAMAZAN: The Sindh Police have decided to utilise the services of police ‘Qaumi Razakar’, City Wardens and scouts in addition to traffic police personnel for ensuring effective traffic arrangements during the month of Ramazan. The decision was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of IGP Sindh, Fayyaz Ahmad Laghari, at the Central Police Office (CPO) here, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.The meeting was attended by Additional IGP Karachi, Iqbal Mehmood, Additional IGP Traffic, Syed Zakir Hussain, DIGP Headquarters, CPO, DIGsP of South, East, West Ranges/Zones, DIGP Traffic Khuaaram Gulzar and AIGP, Operations Sindh, Naeem Shaikh. Fayyaz Laghari directed DIGP Traffic to ensure coordination with the relevant authorities to have at disposal the services of City Wardens and Scouts for specific traffic duties during Ramazan. IGP Sindh also directed to coordinate with the city administration ensuring removal of encroachments from the roads/ footpaths for smooth traffic flow ahead of month of Ramazan. DIGP Traffic informed the chair that traffic contingency plan has been prepared and issued under which the city has been divided into four sectorsMeanwhile, Sindh Archives Minister Rafiq Engineer, and Provincial Adviser for Special Education, Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, have condoled the demise of the sister of Pir Pagara, who died in a road accident in Saudi Arabia.In their separate condolence messages on Thursday to Pir Sahib Pagara, they expressed their heartfelt grief and sorrow over the sad demise. They prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
