Non-bailable warrants of minister issued

KARACHI - Additional Session Judge District West Ahmed Sabah on Thursday issued non-bailable warrants of Sindh Labour Minister Ameer Nawab Khan and directed to present the provincial minister in the court till December 10. The case has been registered against the labour minister on the application of a union council nazim of Qasba Colony, Mohammad Hanif, who belongs to Jamat-i-Islami backed panel of Al-Khidmat, for attempt of murder, violence and attack on political worker. The complainant submitted before the police that in 2005, the said minister had attacked his house located in Peerabad area due to which his nephew was injured. He said that the minister had also given him life threats. The judge issued non-bailable warrants of the labour minister and bound him to follow the directives of Speaker Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmad Khuhro. SHC withdraws decision Sindh High Court on Thursday withdrew its decision of sending the journalist to jail for a week. Journalist Mohammad Ali Khalid appeared before the division bench comprised of Chief Justice of SHC, Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani, and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah regarding his constitutional petition challenging the abolishment of his membership of Karachi Press Club. During the hearing he allegedly used some words which came under the contempt of court context, as a result the court announced to send him to the prison for a week. But while considering the decision the court pardoned the journalist and took back its decision of sending him to prison for a week. On the other side, a constitutional petition was moved through the prosecutors challenging the direction of the chief minister Sindh over making the issuance of their allowances conditional with their performance. Khadim Hussain along with other prosecutors filed the petition submitting that some 386 prosecutors are serving across the province who are solely dependent on the allowances, therefore, their allowances should be issued to them on time.
