KARACHI – Nine people including three activists of ASWJ were gunned down in separate acts of violence in different parts of the city here on Friday. According to details, unknown gunmen killed three activists of Ahle-Sunnat-Wal-Jamat (ASWJ) formerly known as defunct Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan at Abu-Al-Hassan-Ispahani Road within the remit of Mobina Town police station.Police said the victims including Aziz-ul-Rehman, 26 , Kari Mawia Mujahid and Shahzad were affiliated with ASWJ and succumbed to their injuries on way to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). The victims were on the way to Gulistan-e-Johar from a protest rally against the killing of ASWJ workers staged when gunmen came to them and sprayed bullets and fled from the spot. Maulana Syed Akber while talking to the media said that the victims were affiliated with student wing of ASWJ and studied in Dar-ul-Khair seminary.He said that gunmen targeted them near the protest rally at Jhangvi Road where police and rangers were also deployed. He said that police and rangers saw the whole incident as silent spectators and assailants managed to flee without any resistance. He said that we would register the FIR against IG Sindh and DG Rangers Sindh for the killing of their activists. A young man was gunned down and three others wounded in Baldia No 5 within the jurisdiction of Baldia police station. Police said that the victims Saad, 26, was shot dead while his father Farooq, 52, brother Hammad, 32, and his uncle Nusrat,38, wounded. Police said that the victims were going back to home on a car bearing registration No AUU-645, after completing their religious rituals at Baldia where unidentified assailants riding a motorbike intercepted them and started indiscriminate firing. Resultantly, they received multiple bullet injuries. Saad died on the spot while others were wounded. Police reached the spot after getting information and shifted them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment. Police said the victims belonged to Ahmedi group. Two people were gunned down in a targeted attack in Korangi within Awami Colony police station remit. Their bodies were taken to the JPMC for autopsy. SHO Hatim Marwat said that the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained while the details about the victims were yet to be gathered.A man was shot dead in Zia Colony within the precincts of Korangi police station.Police said that the victim identified as Yousuf, 26, son of Mohammad Hussain, a resident of same area was standing near his residence, when unidentified armed men came close to him and opened firing. Resultantly, victim sustained multiple bullet injures and died on the way to hospital.Police rushed on the spot and shifted the body at JPMC for post-mortem and later handed over to his family. Police said the deceased was a drug peddler.Two more people were gunned down in an act of target killing in Baldia Town. One of the victims was identified as Shahzad alias Pappu, 27, while his companion has yet to be identified. SP Shahjahan Khan said that Shahzad lived in the same area and he was accompanied by his companion and was going somewhere on a motorcycle when at least two armed men riding a motorcycle came close to them near NADRA office and escaped after shooting them. Resultantly, both died on the spot. He said that the political or sectarian affiliations of the victims have yet to be ascertained while bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.aTTACK condemnED: The spokesman of Bilawal House, Aijaz Durrani, has condemned firing on member of the Sindh Assembly, Kulsoon Chandio, of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).In a statement here on Friday, he said that Kulsoom was shot and injured in Karachi’s Clifton area on Friday.Aijaz Durrani also demanded a high-level investigation into the incident.
