SHC dismisses Zardaris eligibility petition

Sindh High Court Wednesday dismissed a petition seeking disqualification of President Asif Ali Zardari. Petitioner Moulvi Iqbal Hyder has contended in his plea that the President has been beneficiary of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), which has been declared unlawful by the Supreme Court so as the President can not hold the office. Two candidates of the Presidential election Justice (rtd) Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui and Mushahid Hussain Sayed were also made party in the petition. The high court bench comprised of Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani and Justice Zahid Hamid in its decision said that no one can be disqualified on the basis of the pending cases. Petitioner Moulvi Iqbal Hyder after the court decision said he will challenge the verdict in Supreme Court.
