MQM announces movement against Sindh Local Government Act 2013

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Saturday announced a protest movement against Sindh Local Government Act (SLGA) 2013.
Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly and MQM senior leader, Faisal Sabzwari termed the SLGA as black law through which rural and urban population of the province would be divided.
He said the rights of the people of Sindh had been seized through the ordinance while the amendments had already been effective from September 16, 2013.
He further said that political parties in the province should be provided equal opportunities for participation in the Local Bodies’ polls but the Sindh government has designed the ordinance to obtain its desired results in the polls.
He said such practice of Sindh government would put a question mark on the fair, free and transparent LB polls and it would also shatter people’s confidence on the Election commission of Pakistan.
Rejecting the SLG Amendment Ordinance, he demanded the judiciary and the ECP to take immediate notice of the issue.
Sabzwari expressed hopes that the judiciary likely to give decision in favor of the people of Pakistan.
He said that first protest against the Act would be staged today (Sunday) at Fawwara Chowk.
He also invited other political parties in opposition to come and support them to save right of the people of Sindh.
