Karachi: PTI stages sit-in against US drone attacks

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has staged a sit-in in Karachi against US drone attacks in tribal areas near Afghan border, bringing Nato supplies to a halt. Thousands of people from the cross section of society, including women students lawyers and seminary students gathered at the Neti Jeti bridge near Karachi port on Saturday, holding flags and pla cards, chanting slogans against the US for its what they said cruelties against the innocent Pakistanis. PTI chairman Imran Khan on Friday visited Sunni Tehreek (ST) headquarters and Jamia Binoria Al Almia in Karachi, seeking their support for his two-day sit-in. The ST leaders and the Binoria Cleric Mufti Naeem assured Imran of joining his protest against the US. Strict security arrangements have been made by the Sindh government to avert any untoward incident. Heavy deployment of police and the Rangers has been made around the venue while the adjacent roads have been blocked by erecting containers.
