KARACHI - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf senior leader Subhan Ali Sahil has said that fair and free polls are impossible under the politically influenced polling staff. Addressing a press conference at PTI Karachi media cell here on Wednesday, he said the public mandate was brutally hijacked in recent general elections by deploying biased staff for the process at the polling stations. It conveyed a message that 180 million people are nothing more than a herd of sheep. The PTI leader said the results of general elections were surprising in which the candidates were announced victorious that did not actually got public support and votes.
Unfortunately, the rigging was backed by military and civil bureaucracy, Election Commission and security agencies. Corrupt politicians, ROs and DROs had also played their role in making elections a part of the shady system.
He said three months had been lapsed but no satisfactory progress was witnessed regarding the petitions filed against the massive rigging in Pakistan’s history. The situation could have been totally opposite with an independent EC and tribunals.
Subhan said it was an open truth that the politically-influenced staff had been deployed as DROs and ROs whereas the administration was being pressurised and the polling stations were occupied by the local representatives of a certain political party. In such state of affairs, fairness of elections seems to be unattainable.
People are afraid of possible replication of May 11’s massive poll rigging, giving no constructive results even with the majority of votes casted in opposition to the criminals, terrorists and extortionists.
He added that today the peace situation of Karachi is even worse than Beirut but ignorant rulers are still prioritising corruption to achieve their self-centred targets. The PTI has condemned the tradition of leaving the people unaided to face terrorism and soon a movement would be initiated for the same against ineligibility and ignorance of the existing rulers.
