KARACHI - Four people including a local leader of Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen were gunned down in Karachi on Thursday.
Unknown gunmen opened fire on a car near Star Gate.
A boy was killed and his brother wounded in Airport police precincts. Both the victims were going home from airport when gunmen targeted them and fled.
Mazhar Haider and his younger brother Irfan Haider sustained bullet wounds. They were rushed to a private hospital where doctors pronounced the death of Irfan and admitted Mazhar with critical bullet wounds. The case of murder has yet to be registered. MWM spokesman said Mazhar was the MWM president of district central.
Meanwhile, some gunmen shot dead a man in Mach Goth in Saeedabad police precincts. Police said Akram Yar Muhammad, 30, was sitting outside his home where gunmen riding a motorbike targeted him and escaped. The victim was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Police have failed to ascertain the motive behind the murder. The body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
In another incident, a body of an unknown man was recovered from Northern Bypass in Surjani Town police precincts.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy. Surjani Town SHO Bashir Bhutto said unknown assailants kept him in detention for torture before throwing his body. Unidentified armed men gunned down a 60-year-old man near Rekser Bridge on Thursday in Pak Colony police precincts. SHO Rao Shabbir said two unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at Annayatullah, a resident of Ittehad Town. He was a worker at a marble shop in Pak Colony. The assailants escaped from the scene. The victim succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. Police suspected the victim was killed by the family of his ex-wife as he had a family dispute after he divorced his wife a couple of days back.
