The death toll has been raised to 11 as the under-construction multi-storey building collapsed near Firdous Shopping Centre, here on Tuesday. A four-storey under-construction residential-cum-commercial building at the busiest shopping centre in Liaquatabad No 6 collapsed at around 9:15pm. At least 11 bodies and six injured were recovered from the debris of the building while 20 others are feared dead as search for these people is still on. "Many labourers were busy in their works at the ground floor of the building and a large number of people were around the mall when the incident occurred, said Minister of Bureau and Price Control Shoaib Bukhari, adding that the death toll would increase as a large number of people are missing. The rescue teams of Edhi, Chippa and Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) reached the spot and started rescue operations. The Pakistan Rangers have deployed huge force to maintain law and order in the area. The rescuers faced immense difficulties as a large number of people gathered there, causing difficulties in rescue work.
