Two dozen suspects held


KARACHI – Law-enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested more than two dozen suspects during separate targeted operations and raids in different parts of the metropolis on Friday.
According to details, the operation was conducted on a tip-off in Faqira Goth and Jamali Goth of Sohrab Goth. The entire localities were cordoned off during the targeted operation and no one was allowed for any kind of movement.
As many as ten suspects were taken into custody during targeted operations. SHO Naeem Khan said that the operation was conducted following the increasing incidents of crime in Sohrab Goth and its surrounding areas.
He said during the operation, the culprits also attacked the police with heavy weaponry. He said that police, however, managed to arrest them after an exchange of fire. SHO Khan said that the wanted criminals were also among the arrested persons, adding that five repeaters, two shotguns, three snatched motorcycles and hundreds of ammunitions were also recovered from their possession.
According to police sources, extra contingent of law enforcers participated in the operation. Law enforcers also faced massive resistance from the criminals during the targeted operations while few of the culprits were also managed to escape under the cover of firing.
Separately, Pakistan Rangers conducted a raid operation on a tip-off in Metrovill area, as many as 13 suspects were taken into custody during targeted operation. The affiliations of the suspects were not disclosed.
According to Rangers’ spokesman, the personnel of the Rangers also recovered 43 weapons of different calibers including sub-machineguns, rifles and repeaters from the possession of the suspects. The suspects, however, were not handed over to the police till the filing of this news story.
