KARACHI - Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Hussain Mehanti has expressed grave concern over massive loss of innocent lives in drone attacks and regretted that the government was enjoying the role of spectator only. Commenting over frequent drone attacks and particularly the US assault on Eid day, he said that effective and solid measures, not just lame protests, could manage to stop such brutal attacks. He suggested that the government should adopt a bold stance and quit the so-called war on terror, instead of taking cosmetic measures and registering apologetic protests. He was of the view that pro-American policies of the ruling regime have converted the independent state of Pakistan into a meadow for the US bulls. He said that present government was crossing all the limits in romance with the US while on the other hand, the United States government, under its war mania, was continuously presenting corpses in response. Mehanti said that the US drone attacks were open violation of national borders and international rules. He said that terrorism couldn’t be eliminated until the causes were not removed. Such attacks were increasing anti-US sentiments and hatred against them besides implanting terrorism.
