Workers to ‘lose me’, if they don’t change: Altaf

KARACHI - MQM Chief Altaf Hussain said that his party was formed to protect the rights of the deprived people and not for perpetrating hatred towards any nationality or segment of the society.
He stated this in a telephonic address to MQM’s Co-ordination Committee and workers on Friday at Nine Zero.
The MQM chief said if his party workers did not amend themselves, they would lose their leader forever. He said that people had migrated to Pakistan with a hope that the country would protect and embrace them but their dreams shattered when they saw a different picture.
He said that the MQM was initiated from Karachi University to identity the rights of the people who had migrated to Pakistan after partition but it was expended to give voice to the rights of the 98 percent poor and oppressed people of the country.
Hussain said that it was tragic that migrants coming to Pakistan after partition could not be called the inheritors of the country.
Altaf said that he had never preached corruption, fraud, cheating, overstepping and misuse of authority by his workers and had been asking his workers to refrain from evil activities since 1978.
Hussain said that state and government repression was used against the MQM to finish it during the past 35 years of its struggle, adding that he and his family was forced to go in exile.
He said that he never allowed his family members to take any benefit from the party and did not give them tickets for elections.
He said that reformation process of his party had already begun but now he was taking difficult decision by using the rights of party constitution.
He said that he dissolved the Co-ordination Committee and certain office-bearers were also suspended while some were expelled from the party on public complaints.
Meanwhile, MQM’s press release said that worker’s meeting regarding party’s reorganization, which was scheduled for Saturday (today), will now be held on Sunday, May 26, at Jinnah Ground Azizabad.
