KARACHI - A boy died and another got injured in a low intensity blast in timber market in old city area on Thursday.
A bomb was planted outside a woodworks shop at Siddique Wahab Road of old city area.
Two passersby namely Zain, 7, and Waseem, 16, sustained serious wounds. After being informed, heavy contingent of police and rangers rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to Civil Hospital where Zain succumbed to injuries.
Police also called the bomb disposable squad to examine the nature of the blast. The BDS experts said the explosive material was concealed in a tin which contained around half kilogramme of explosives and ball bearings.
Police source said the blast was occurred by the extortionists group over refusal to give extortion money by the owner of the said shop. Further investigation was underway.
LYARI GANG WAR RESUMES; 3 DEAD:
Gang war on Thursday resumed in Lyari which left three dead and wounded four others during an exchange of fire between the gangs of Uzair Baloch and Noor Muhammad aka Baba Ladla, The Nation learnt here.
The dispute between Baloch and Ladla flared up when Ladla narrowly escaped a bomb blast took place outside the Lyari football ground. Sources said Ladla believed that Baloch was behind the conspiracy, as result Baloch left the country.
They said tension between the gangsters was increased when Zafar Baloch, having close association with Baloch, was gunned down on the directives of Ladla.
Ladla, the real successor of Rehman Dakait and chief of all notorious Lyari gangsters, had directed to remove posters from Lyari and surrounding areas. Exchange of fire took place in Behar Colony area in which some six people sustained bullets wounds. They were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi where three of them, including Abdul Ghani, a paramedic of Civil Hospital, Waseem Khalid and Shahbaz Imtiaz succumbed to injuries while rest of them was still in critical condition.
They said the victims were affiliated with Ladla gang as rival gang operatives attacked them when the accomplices of Ladla were busy removing the posters and graffiti from the walls.
Situation in Lyari remained tense where intermittent firing was continued. Security forces were unable to stop firing although the operation was continued in Lyari and some 20 suspects were arrested during the targeted raids.
TWO COPS AMONG 6 KILLED : Two cops among six people were gunned down in various incidents of violence here on Thursday.
Policemen on routine patrolling were sitting at a tea shop at Metroville Square within the jurisdictions of SITE police station when gunmen riding two motorbikes sprayed bullets on them.
Police claimed that the police personnel also retaliated. During an exchange of fire, two cops, including Head Constable Qazi Alam, constables Javaid, Nadeem and an attacker sustained injuries who were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Doctors pronounced the deaths of three while admitted constable Nadeem with critical wounds. Police have yet to disclose the identification of the attacker. It said the assailants would be arrested as police got the evidences of the group involved in the murder.
On the other side, some gunmen shot dead a motorcyclist near Abdullah Mor within the jurisdiction of Surjani police station. Police said an unknown motorcyclist was riding a motorbike when some gunmen targeted him and managed to escape. Police shifted the body to morgue for identification after autopsy at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
In another incident, one person was killed and another wounded at MPR Colony within the jurisdiction of Orangi Town police station.
Police said some gunmen riding a motorbike sprayed bullets at Quetta Al-Sadat Hotel. As result, Siddique and Hussain sustained bullet wound who were rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced the death of Siddique and admitted Hussain with injuries. Police suspected personal enmity the motive behind the killing.
A man wounded within the jurisdiction of Ittehad Town police station was succumbed to injuries at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police said Ali Raza, 23, was targeted near W-25 stop where assailants intercepted him and shot him multiple times. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries. Police suspected that the incident took place on sectarian grounds.
