KARACHI - The MQM has demanded the Sindh government to take notice of the poor law and order situation in Karachi, as the prevailing incidents of target killing, extortion and robberies have made the citizens’ lives miserable, halting the economical activities.
In a statement here Sunday, the MQM Coordination Committee deplored the rising incidents of crime in the city. It said the citizens have been left at the mercy of outlaws and terrorists while the government and law enforcement agencies’ silence over the situation is a matter of concern. Various armed groups are operating freely in the city, adopting the kidnapping for ransom as their business, the statement said adding the Karachiites have been left with no other option but to face loss at the hands of criminals.
The committee demanded the rulers to initiate immediate action against the criminals and ensure peace in the city.
Robber gunned down: A robber was gunned down and his accomplice wounded when they tried to loot four men in Memon Goth area on Sunday.
SHO Rao Khalid said four men were heading towards their destination in a car in Nazimabad area when two armed robbers intercepted them and resorted indiscriminate fire, inuring Waqar, one of the men sitting in the car.
The SHO said that Fahad, another man sitting in the car, retaliated and opened fire, killing one of the robbers on the spot and injuring the other. The robbers have yet to be identified; however, two pistols were recovered from their possession.
