KARACHI - During a big operation against defaulters in Cattle Colony Landhi, Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB) disconnected water connections of 65 Cattle Farms (pens) and confiscated 70 water suction motors.
The operation against defaulters in Cattle Colony would continue till March 1 with the help of area police and local administration.
In the first phase of revenue recovery strategic actions KW&SB commenced an operation against 1100 Cattle Farms in Cattle Colony with the help of DIG Aleem Jafri, SHO Sukhan Sarfaraz Sanghi, police and local administration. Collectively these Cattle Farms are defaulters of more than Rs900 million. This operation is carried out under the supervision of KW&SB Deputy Managing Director Waqar Hashmi and Director Billing Faheem Siddiqui.
During this one week long operation, water connections of more than one hundred defaulting Cattle Farms (Bara) would be disconnected daily. If these farms fail to pay the bill during the operation, defaulting farms would be sealed under revenue act.
MD Misbahuddin Farid had recently directed DMD (RRG) to conduct a thorough operation against the 1100 Cattle Farms a collective defaulter of more than 900 million. These farms have not only ignored all KW&SB notifications but are also not willing to pay the bills.
Furthermore, he said that the operation scheduled last time was delayed on the advice of elected representatives however, for the betterment of the system it is vital to commence the operation against these Cattle Farms. These Cattle Farms consume water in bulk quantities causing water shortage in adjoining areas therefore, the defaulting farms must be sealed, he added. Moreover, actions would be taken against owners of these farms under revenue act, directed MD KW&SB.
Later on, the MD went on an un-announced visit for the operation site with DMD Technical Services Iftikhar Ahmed. Directing the officers to complete the operations as soon as possible, he said that they would continue to take strict actions till the owners of these farms pay their dues.
