KARACHI - Another branch of a private bank was looted on second consecutive day by armed robbers in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area on Tuesday.
Seven robbers barged into the bank near Mochi Mor in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area at 11:40am. They held the staff members and customers hostage at gunpoint and snatched the weapon from the security guard deployed at the entrance of the bank.
The robbers then moved towards the cash counter and looted around Rs13,65,000. The police investigators while quoting the witnesses said two robbers were clad in pant shirt and one in shalwar kameez while their fourth comrade stayed outside the bank. Officials said the robbery lasted for five minutes.SHO Aurangzeb Khattak said the robbers did not take the DVR system away with them while fleeing. The footages have been obtained and a case has been registered.
It is worth mentioning here this is the second consecutive robbery in two days.
FIVE OF A FAMILY BURNT ALIVE: Five members of a family including three children were burnt in an explosion inside their home in Liaquatabad area on Tuesday.
Police officials said the explosion took place due to gas leakage. Rescuers shifted the victims to the Burns Ward of the Civil Hospital. The injured were identified as Abdul Salam, his wife Nafisa and three children, Shumaila, 19, Shiba, 3 and Arsalan, 6.
Inquiry officer SI Khursheed said the head of the family, Salam was an employee of the Merchant Navy.
He and his children were asleep when his wife lit the match stick to burn the stove when suddenly an explosion took place. “They gone asleep with leaving the stove opened,” the officer explained.
One of the walls of the house was also damaged in the explosion. The officer said no case was registered as it occurred accidently.
