KARACHi - A two-member Divisional Bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday conducted the hearing of the petition filed by Jamaat-i-Islami over amendments in Local Bodies Ordinance.
A Divisional Bench comprised of Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Ashraf Jahan issued notices to Advocate General Sindh and Attorney General to appear before court on January 6th.
The lawyer of the petitioner Rasheed A Rizvi, JI Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, JI General Secretary Karachi Abdul Wahab, Deputy Secretary Rashid Qureshi, Information Secretary Zahid Askari and others were also present on the occasion. On the occasion, Hafiz Naeem demanded that the people of the City should have a right to elect the Chairman and Vice Chairman, as their selection through councillors is an undemocratic and unlawful act. He further demanded that biometric system and use of magnetic ink should be ensured on the polling day.
