Unabated violence claims six more lives in Karachi

Despite presence of heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies and tall claims of government regarding bringing the law and order situation under control, unabated violence continued to claim innocent as six more people lost their lives in separate incidents of targeted killing in different localities of the city.
According to police, unidentified motorcyclists shot dead two youths in two separate drive-by attacks in North Karachi and Surjani Town areas.
The bodies were shifted to hospital where identity of the deceased was confirmed as Wajid and Abid Jan.
One person was killed and another injured in a gun firing incident in Orangi town area of Karachi. Another person was killed in a firing incident in Surjani town Sector IV.
Police recovered a bullet riddled tortured dead body from Saeedabad Goth locality.
A robber was killed and four others arrested in separate police encounters in different localities of the city and recovered arms from their possession. The first incident occurred in Malir City where offender identified as Arif Dada came across police and exchange of fire took place in which the accused was killed.
The robber belonged to a gang-war and wanted by various police stations in several cases of robberies and other crimes.
Malir police claimed to have arrested a target killer allegedly involved in 12 murders. The suspect was captured during a raid in Mailr area.
The police arrested two accused in encounter near Jail Chourangi in PIB police station jurisdiction. The detainees were wanted in more than 10 criminal cases.
The citizens held two robbers near Goal Market area of Nazimabad and tortured them brutally. Later they were handed over to police.
Meanwhile, a Pakistan Navy’s senior officer was shot and injured when unidentified men opened fire on his car at Gate 15 of Karachi port, police said. The police said that Lieutenant Commander Azeem, was shifted to Pakistan Navy’s PNS Shifa hospital.
