NPIW employees demand job regularisation

HYDERABAD (PPI) - Employees Association of National Program for Improvement of Water Courses (NPIW), representing 1800 employees, took out rally here on Sunday for regularisation of their services. Participants of rally were holding placards, banners and portraits of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, the two time former prime minister. The rally was participated by more than 500 employees and it was led by Shaiq Rehman Lakhiar, Muhammad Shah, Ayaz Abro and others. They said they were civil, mechanical and agriculture engineers and computer science professionals who worked on war footing to complete 17000 water courses in short span of 4 years. They said it was big achievement as during last 30 years only 7000 watercourses were completed. They said that chief ministers inspection team and other officers found their work of improvement of watercourses as satisfactory and of quality. They said that this project is carried out not only in Sindh but in all 4 provinces. They said they are paid salaries but no facilities that regular employees enjoy. They said that if all 44000 watercourses work is completed the water equal to quantity of 3 dams can be saved and in that case we do not need to build new dams. They demanded from government to regularise 1800 employees of NPIW to end restless from their families. ALL SET FOR ANTI-POLIO CAMPAIGN All is set for the anti polio campaign that will start from today (Monday) and continue for three days. Like all over Sindh, in Hyderabad district 2,62,737 children of the age of 5 years and below would be given the drops against polio. This was stated by EDO Health Hyderabad district Dr. Bux Ali Pitaffi while addressing news conference here on Sunday. He said for this purpose he has formed 652 mobile teams, and made 88 fixed and 59 transit points were the drops would be administered to children. He said for supervision of the campaign 6 Taluka Supervisors, 22 Zonal In-charges, 153 Area In-charges have been appointed. Apart for it he said that officers of health department, nazims and officials of World Health Organisations will also keep vigil on the campaign. He made appeal to people through media to ensure that their children of 5 years and below are given the anti polio drops and children up to age of 9 month be given complete course of protection from deadly diseases. He said a toll free number 080012012 is set up so that parents of any children if remain out of coverage of this campaign could contact on it and ask for sending health team for giving drops to child or children.
