Rival student unions file FIRs against each other

KARACHI - Police have registered two FIRs on behalf of injured workers of All Pakistan Muttahida Student Organization (APMSO) and Islami Jamiat-e-Taliba (IJT). Both the parities accused each other for the killing of students at KU clash. Meanwhile, both parities offered separate funeral prayers at Numaish Chowrangi and Jinnah Ground on Wednesday. According to Mobina Town police station, the FIR number 249/08 (Under Sections 147, 148, 149, 302/34) was registered on behalf of Ali Asad, an injured worker of the APMSO. He recorded the statement that his associate Atif Raza alias Mohammad Ramesh was killed while Kashif along with him was injured. On the other hand, the FIR number 250/08 (Under Sections 302, 324/34) was registered on behalf of an injured worker Maaz Farooqui of the IJT registered. Farooqui recorded his statement that his two associates Abdul Jabbar and Osama Bin Adam were killed while he along with another worker Qasim Saleem were injured. Complainant Ali Asad of the APMSO told that he was engaged in the preparations of Peace walk that some IJT workers including two deceased's tried to create problems. It started firing between the two groups after an exchange of hard words, according to Station Investigation Officer (SIO) Ghulam Rasool Rajper. He added that IJT's Maaz Farooqui had recorded the statement that APMSO workers including Atif Raza alias Ramesh and injured Ali Asad intrupted with our activities and opened fire on us. The funeral prayers of two IJT workers were offered at Numaish Chowrangi on Wednesday at around 2:30 p.m. JI Chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed led the funeral prayers. The score of people including the leadership of JI and IJT such as Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Mohammad Hussain Mehnti, Muzaffar Shajih, Asadullah Bhutto, Atiqur Rehman, Hassan Hammad, Ibrahim, family members, relatives attended the funeral process. The dead body of deceased Osama Bin Adam was rushed to Thatta and the body of Jabbar was rushed to Balochistan for burial process. Although third of the JI activist would be laid to rest at Model Colony graveyard today. The people, who attended the funeral prayers, chanted slogans against the rival group.
