KARACHI - Eight people, including a lawyer were gunned down in different incidents of violence here on Thursday.
Sindh High-Court lawyer Ahmed Ali Jan Bangash, who was wounded in the remits of Baghdadi Police Station last week, succumbed to his injures at a local hospital. Police said, unidentified armed men had sprayed bullets on his car when he was passing through the area with his son Shabbir Bangash on June 23. The victim’s son Shabbir had already died on the spot.
In another incident, police constable Muhammad Asif, 32 was shot dead over sectarian issue near to his residence in the limits of Rizvia Police Station. The incident occurred at Liaqat Chowk where the victim was sitting with his friend when unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle, shot him multiple times and managed to escape from the scene. His body was shifted to Abassi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.
Separately, 40-year-old Irfan Ullah Ansari was shot dead when he came out of a mosque after offering prayer in Nazimabad No 2, in the remit of Gulbahar Police Station. The incident occurred near Pardah Park where he was resided and went mosque to offer prayer when gunmen ridding on a motorbike targeted him and managed to flee. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained while body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.
In another incident, unidentified armed men killed a youth in Agra Taj Colony, in the limits of Kalri Police Station. The victim was abducted some days ago by unidentified persons who threw his body at the said place. Police said the culprits tortured him before a gunshot. The body was taken to morgue for identification after autopsy.
Another similar incident took place in Chakiwara police remits where gangsters shot dead a man. Police said the deceased was tortured brutally and shot six times before his body was dumped at the said place. Police shifted the body to morgue after autopsy.
In another incident, a man identified as Nawaz axed his wife Kalsoom for her alleged illicit relation, in the limits of Jackson Police Station. The accused, later managed to flee from the scene. Police shifted the body to Civil Hospital Karachi and handed over to the family after autopsy.
A 45-year-old motor dealer namely Sheikh Naveed Raza was gunned down by unidentified armed men near Karsaz within the remits of Shar-e-Faisal Police Station. Raza was going his home when the assailants targeted him. Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy. Police has yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
Separately, an alleged bandit was killed in exchange of fire in Khayaban-e-Shamsheer area. Police said two bandits were busy looting valuables from a passer-by. As the police reached there, the bandits resorted fire.
To which, the police also retaliated, killing one of the bandits on the spot while his accomplice managed to flee from the scene. The body was moved to morgue for identification after completing the medico-legal formalities at JPMC.
