Mastermind of Ch Aslam’s killing plan held

KARACHI - Law enforcement agencies have arrested the mastermind of the murder plan of SP Crime Investigation Department Chaudhry Aslam here on Thursday.
Police sources said the intelligence agencies had arrested the accused person Mufti Shakir from Site area and shifted him to unknown location for further investigation.
They pointed out that Mufti revealed, during investigation, that TTP operative Umar Bajori got prepared the explosive-laden Suzuki Pickup. Mufti himself roamed at Lyari Expressway for at least three days with the vehicle but slain SP Khan was not using that route. Finally, Mufti handed the mission over to Naeemullah who, on the first day, found SP Khan’s convoy and rammed the vehicle.
It is worth mentioning here that SP Khan was the only officer in the police department who killed 15 terrorists of the defunct Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. Since the day he embraced martyrdom, police officers seem reluctant to take action against the terrorists of TTP.
Meanwhile, four cops among 90 suspects were arrested during the targeted operation here on Thursday.
DIG Crime Investigation Agency, Sultan Khawaja arrested three police personnel including an inspector and two cops. Police said SIU inspector Chaudhry Amir, constables Farooq and Amir and head constable Noor Rehman kidnapped businessmen Shahbaz and Fahim for ransom. Police said a case was under investigation when RBS indicated the location of SIU Jamshaid where both the businessmen were kept detained. Police raided the SIU and got released both the victims and arrested the police team involved in the kidnapping.
On the other side, police said two gangsters, affiliated with Uzair Jan Baloch Group, were arrested from Khuda Ki Basti, Surjani Town. The accused persons including Mazharudin aka Pehalwan and his comrade Kashif were arrested when the police party conducted a raid at a house on a tip-off. It also recovered two TTP pistols from them.
CIA DIG Sultan Khawaja said the accused persons were involved in some seven cases of short-term kidnapping for ransom and four murders. On the other side, city police claimed to have arrested 88 other criminals in 117 raids during the targeted actions across the City.
Separately, an activist of MQM was shot dead in Pakistan Bazaar police precincts. Police said the gunmen riding a motorbike barged into a Snooker Club at Ali Nagar, Orangi Town and shot Mazhar Mansoor, 30, multiple times. The assailants managed to flee while the victim was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The victim was the worker of MQM’s Unit-118. The body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
