National junior hockey trials for Indian series conclude

KARACHI - The two day trials to select probable for Pakistan team for the forthcoming five math junior hockey series against India concluded here Monday at the HCP. Out of 81 invited 61 reported at the trials and the rest did not appear for various reasons. A five member PHF selection committee headed by former Olympian Hasan Sardar watched the trials before retaining 36 players for the training camp due to start here Tuesday. Final trials to select a 20 member Pakistan team for the series would be held here November 2. Indian juniors would play its first match of the series at the HCP on November 12. Other members of the PHF selection committee were Farhat Khan, Khalid Bashir, Rana Mujahid and Muhammed Shafiq. Qamar Ibrahim, the coach cum manager designate of the junior team also attended the meeting. The camp trainees selected are: Goalkeeprs: Imran Shah,Khurram Majeed, Waseem Ahmed, Waqas. Full backs: Kashif Ali, Ateeq, Imran Abbas, Adnan Javed, M.Nawaz, Rana Akmal. Half-backs: Irfan ,Kashif Jawed,Junaid,Zaheer Ahmed, Rashid, Usman Tariq,Amir Shahzad, Farid Ahmed, Khurram. Forwards: Adeel Hussain, Ramzan, Hasan Akhtar, Salman, Taufeeq, Azlan Khan, Khurram Shahzad, Yasir, Haseem Khan, Inayatullah, Imran Malik, Shafqat Rasool, Shahbaz, Irfan, Zubair, Rizwan, M.Imran.
